Introducing ENYE

ENYE, formerly known as Díg en Español, will release its first issue under its new name on April 8.

Formerly known as Díg en Español, the first and only student-run bilingual media outlet at Long Beach State, has announced that they will be rebranding to ENYE this Spring 2024 semester.

Díg en Español started as the first Spanish magazine produced at Long Beach State in 2019. In 2023, it transformed into the first and only student-run bilingual magazine on campus. Throughout its run time, Díg en Español discovered and defined their own identity, amplifying the voice of the Latinx community on and off campus. The publication soon began to outgrow the Díg en Español name. In an effort to properly reflect their identity and culture, Díg en Español decided to move forward with a new name, ENYE, to perfectly match who they are as a publication.

Why ENYE? It is very typical for many names in the Latinx community to be rewritten or mispronounced because the letter “ñ” is not in the English language. The letter and pronunciation of the letter is forgotten and overlooked more often than when it is recognized. ENYE allows the Latinx community to be seen and it is a message that the community would not be overlooked or forgotten in the media.

The first issue ENYE will release is to be expected on April 8, 2024. The editor in chief of ENYE, Briana Mendez-Padilla tells us, “Readers can expect the same quality content and storytelling DÍG En Español has been providing the CSULB community these past years but with a new, updated look.” Excited to bring this rebrand to life, Briana continues, “It’s an honor to be at the helm of this new phase of the publication and it wouldn’t be possible without my amazing staff who are just as excited and dedicated to this rebrand. Change is always a bit daunting but this is a change for the better and I can’t wait to reintroduce ourselves to our audience.”

Publishing on their website, as well as two print issues every year, one during the fall semester and one during the spring semester, ENYE will continue to highlight stories that showcase the Latinx community and experience on campus.
